🎃HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Spooky Reading Night was a great way to kick off Halloween this year. Thank you to all of our students that participated (OVER 100!!!) and to all of the teachers that helped with the activities today. We want to especially thank our Reading Ladies- Mrs. Aldrich, Mrs. Flott & Mrs. Svornik-for a SPOOKTACULAR time! Have a safe Halloween! 👻

CONGRATULATIONS to Mr. Gettinger and Miss Allie for being our October Redbirds of the Month! Mr. Gettinger’s students are lucky to have him in the classroom, and our older students benefit from the many extracurricular activities for which he coaches. Miss Allie assists all office staff and students each day; she is also a super substitute anywhere needed. Mr. G and Miss Allie VOLUNTEERED to coach our new Cross Country team this year! They have had a great season and are taking two cross country members to STATE this Saturday! Thank you, Mr. G and Miss Allie! 🎉

Congratulations to our Cross Country runners on their inaugural season! They capped the season off at Sectionals last Saturday with two of our runners qualifying for state, Mikayla Chambers Sectional champion and Logan Bovelle State qualifier. Both Mikayla and Logan will compete at Maxwell Park in Normal on Saturday at the IESA State Cross Country Meet, Good Luck to both runners!

Dwight Grade School basketball will be hosting a "Rules of the Game" information night on Tuesday, September 20th at 7:00pm. We have a licensed official in the gym to explain rules and situations for the game of basketball. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the: what, why, and when officials make the calls they do.

Please help us CONGRATULATE, Mrs. Jana Kinkin, our first REDBIRD TEACHER of the MONTH. She received this award for September as a token of appreciation for her hard work and dedication in her PreK classroom as well as her role as PTO President. Thank you, Miss Jana, for everything you do to support our Redbird school community!

Redbird family, help us solve a mystery! Someone accidently went home with the wrong bicycle yesterday. We have two youngsters who have the exact same bicycle and one them grabbed the wrong one yesterday at the end of the day. If you noticed that the wrong bicycle came home yesterday, please call the office and let us know and if you could bring it back tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated.

Girls basketball practice schedules for the 5/6th grade team and the 7/8 grade teams have been messaged out via 8to18 and paper copies will go home with athletes that have signed up today. Please make sure your athlete is registered on 8to18 and has an up to date physical in the office. If we do not have those 2 items, athletes will not be able to practice. Mrs. Svornik is excited to report that 775 books were read over the summer! That’s tremendous!!! 1,114 Redbird Bucks are being given out to students that turned in a Summer Reading log. Pictured is the WINNER of the $25 gift card! Great job, Redbird Readers!!!

We honored our 8th Grade softball players last Thursday. Our Redbirds had hot bats and gloves coming away with a 7-5 win vs. Herscher. Congrats to our 8th graders and the entire team! Best of luck as you head into Regionals! 💪🏻❤️

REDBIRD REMINDERS FOR THE START OF SCHOOL NEW!!! CIRCLE DRIVE DROP-OFF: We will have extra help at the circle drive each morning in order to streamline the drop-off process. Parents should stay in their cars each morning while staff members assist those who need help from the car door to the school door. BE ON TIME AND REDBIRD READY: Doors open at 7:45A; the school day begins at 8:00A. Please make sure students are dropped off with enough time to get in the building and prepared for the day. LUNCH MONEY: Please send lunch money in an envelope marked with your child’s first and last name. DRESS CODE: Please remember to follow the school dress code. (No crop tops, muscle shirts, etc.) Please see the school handbook for more information.

Reminder, we will have a meeting for any 5-8 grade student who is interested in running cross country tonight at 5:15. The meeting will be in the Grade School gymnasium and you can enter through the cafeteria doors.
